Decentralizing GIT - Gitopia

By Cosmonauta | Cosmonaut | 30 Mar 2023

As we know Github is dominating the coders' world, bought by Microsoft years ago. This was not welcomed by all at the time, some move to Gitlab or other options but most developers stayed at Github. There are open source projects like Gitea, to run git locally or through a server. But now there is another project built on Cosmos to decentralize to Git.

Gitopia is the next-generation Decentralized Code Collaboration Platform fueled by a decentralized network and interactive token economy. It is designed to optimize the software development process through collaboration, transparency, and open source incentivization.

If you know your way around git, it's very easy to onboard, currently they are on testnet, so all you need a Keplr wallet (ask for some $LORE testnet tokens). If you were always curious about Git, there are many tutorials online, or get straight to Gitopia docs. To be honest, this is one of the project getting me excited. It seem like, moving from web2 to web3 will be faster than anticipated, so web3 won't stay just like a hype word.
