Back in March 2021 I started writing this post: "update on 9.5 months of playing Upland". For some reason I forgot about it completely and didn't post it. Seeing as I will be posting my 1 year of playing Upland review soon, I am just going to post this here now. That way, if you are interested in how I reviewed Upland over the course of a year, you can go through my different posts of Upland review updates.
Apart from one picture I no longer have, the post is the full original I wrote back in March. Here it comes...
So after my last review of playing Upland, I've been wanting to do a follow up/update.
Because yes, I still play the game and yes things have changed...for the better.
Last time I revealed I had 5 properties in San Francisco and 1 in Manhattan. And only 4 basic challenge badges to my name. My, how the times have changed.
So the real game changer for me was the introduction of Fresno. Hundreds of affordable plots that I could buy and sell to other players who didn't have access to Fresno (it's only accessible for new players who have a net worth under 100.000 UPX). This allowed the slow game play to speed up significantly and I was able to complete collections that now allow me to boost income to earn 1370 UPX a month. This is a game changer. Because I essentially no longer need to put in any more money into the game for a while. (I will. I totally will. I'm so hooked.)
Financial investment thus far: I have invested a total of 49.50 euros (59 USD) in the game.
My current net worth in the game is +- 67.000 UPX.
I own 16 properties total. I have 7 completed collections.
I have 9 properties in Fresno, all very good ones that are sought after.
I have the limited Van Nesses, and the exclusive Olive Ave and Lowell collections.
I can sell them for probably triple the buying price one day. So I feel like a boss. :D
I now have 6 properties in San Francisco, and these properties are almost all evenly spread out for treasure hunting strategy reasons. It really makes a difference not having to use Sends and UPX as much during hunting. And as I got into the game pretty late, there is no way of ever getting the more rare collections in San Francisco any time soon/ever. So San Francisco is my hunting grounds now.

I still have just the one property in Manhattan, however I am on my way to New York now to conquer Brooklyn.

If I gave the game a 3.5 out of five stars last time, it's now definitely a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
They are still developing the game, but the live events, challenges, quizzes and discord community really amp up the game. And so it keeps getting better and better.
What I like most about Upland right now is that it doesn't feel like a crypto game, it just feels like a unique strategy game and I enjoy that. The blockchain/crypto magic it includes makes it more fun, because you actually own your properties in-game and each property is uniquely yours. No one else has it.
AND some of my friends are finally interested in crypto now, so I will try to get them into Upland as well. Could get interesting.
