The European Banking Authority (EBA) has called on stablecoin issuers to comply with regulations on consumer protection and risk management, which will come into effect in one year. On Wednesday, July 12, the European Banking Authority (EBA) shared some details about the new regulations that will come into effect in one year.

European Union Moves to a New Phase in Crypto Regulations

With the increasing use of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies worldwide, the financial regulatory authorities of countries have taken action to make the necessary legal regulations. In this context, the European Union has moved to a new phase in regulating crypto asset markets and approved the MiCa legislation, which is expected to come into effect in 2024. MiCa was published in the official journal of the European Union in June.

Meanwhile, European regulators have begun intensive work on regulations for stable cryptocurrencies and have made significant progress in crypto regulations.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has called on stablecoin issuers to comply with regulations on consumer protection and risk management, which will come into effect in one year. The European Banking Authority (EBA) shared some details about the new regulations that will come into effect in approximately one year.

The EBA stated that the announcement was made to encourage timely preparation for the implementation of regulations in order to reduce the risks of potentially disruptive and sharp business model adjustments at a later stage, promote regulatory convergence, and facilitate consumer protection.

In addition, there has been another development in crypto regulations. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) of the EU has set out a series of draft rules for crypto asset service providers. The new regulations introduced by the European Securities and Markets Authority are expected to come into effect in 2025.
