Topps Offically Bringing Baseball Cards to Blockchain!

Early this morning Topps finally announced Major League Baseball's next step into the NFT realm! With the market of NFTs taking off along with that of baseball call in particular it was a logical pairing. Following in the Garbage Patch Kids card release by Topps the MLB cards will be released on the WAX Blockchain.

Included in the announcement article was a link for the first 10,000 people to get a free pack when they are released on April 20th and these were gone in less than an hour. The launch will be on the WAX website but you have to pay via credit card. The packs are both preminted and there are two different options. The cheaper option is the Standard Pack and it comes with 6 cards at a price of $5 and the more expensive option is the Premium Pack which contains 45 cards and costs $100. The number of packs has also already been decided with there being 50,000 Standard Packs and 24,090 Premium Packs.

The price of these packs really blew me away with how affordable they are. If you are a baseball card collector you know how expensive cards have gotten since the pandemic has started. More often than not local stores are sold out or limiting the number of packs or boxes you can buy due to the demand. This is finally taking the really cool cards from Topps BUNT game and placing them on the blockchain.

This first series is the 2021 Topps Baseball Series One cards and with them being on the blockchain include motion cards! These are some of the coolest cards I have seen with how the effects are displayed. Naturally the Preimum Packs carry higher odds of rarer cards and they also have Premium Pack exclusives but they did not leave those who can only afford the Standard Packs in the dust as there are still some odds albite very slight odds that you could get a Rare, Super Rare, or Epic card!

Hopefully with a fantastic feedback and release the team at Topps will continue to release cards this way!
