My favourite artists of all time (swedish edition) - Part 4

By Shattered | cesar cantante | 24 Jan 2021

Today night i'm going to Record the video or my new musical cover, so now i have some spare time to continue with this list of artists that moved my world some time of my life to this current day. Now, back to my exordium.

Music is everywhere, Music is universal, it doesn't matter if you don't understand the language, you can feel it and undestand it anyway. That's the best thing about music, and there's some bands or artists in particular that when they sing, they makes you feel way too much things. That's are your favourites.

Sure, i could placed some amazing bands that i love from Sweden, like ABBA, Roxette, etc. But those i love them, they are not my favourite, and to be honest, this couple of week i feel in the mood for something more.. heavy, so i'm placing this couple of weeks more heavy stuff than other genres, except for some exceptions.

1. Europe

This band i listened the first time thanks to my brother (yeah, he inspired me to listen more rock/metal stuff, he was my mentor in my early years), curiously, he always listened Europe when he was in love , so i knew something happened to him when he started to listen it.

Europe's music is really calmed and relaxing, and full of love, actually i have this band in my chill playlist

I love this song.

Lyrics:

"I want to learn how to fly
I want to be respected
I want to get lucky
I want to get out of this dump
I just want to watch TV
I want to be loved
I want to be different
I want a brother and sister
I'd just rather be forgotten
I want to save the world
I want to be understood
I want to be rich
Man, I just want to be somebody

Julie's got the word today
She lost her job just one last pay
Life don't come easy anymore
Still strugglin'on by herself
Got a picture of Jimmy
There on the shelf
And she looks at him and says
Why did we let it go

I know that sometimes baby
We didn't see things eye-to-eye
But I got just one question
Did we have to say goodbye

Just like prisoners in paradise
Still far from heaven's door
We had it all but still we
Wanted more
Now I realize that I can't
Turn back the future's here
To stay but hey
We're just children of tomorrow
Hangin' on to yesterday

Jimmy still recalls the night
When he took his guitar
And headed on out
To find the big time
That was his dream
He gave up his past
And made it alright
But there's something missin'
In his heart tonight
Sometimes what you want
Ain't what you need

He misses drivin' down
To the lake at night
Holdin' his baby
In his arms so tight
Ain't it hard to find illusions
When you're livin' in a memory

Just like prisoners in paradise
So close but yet so far
There will come a time
No matter who you are
When you ask yourself
Was it right or wrong
For me to turn away but hey
We're just children of tomorrow
Hangin' on to yesterday"

But enough of love stuff, let's go to the powerful stuff.

2. Arch Enemy

This Band is one of the first Melodic Death Metal bands i've ever heard. Arch Enemy has transformed at least 3 time, each one getting better than the previous one. The first song i've listen from them was Bury me an Angel, i was shocked at first because it is really powerful for a young me.

The begginings of Arch Enemy, it was raw Death Metal.

Then, Angela Gossow replaced Johan Liiva (vocals), and with time, it transformed into a more melodic death metal, and it was amazing to watch her growling the way she does (in that time, there wasn't many woman singing leads growling), it was a mindblowing experience. Of course, i loved it.

This one is such a powerful song.

Then, Alissa White-Gluz replaced Angela Gossow, and i knew that would be epic. I followed her since she was in the band The Agonist, and i was right, it was epic.

Acording to the band, this is the sound they really wanted, this is Arch Enemy.

Lyrics:

"Friend or foe?
There's no way to know
In the battlefield of life
It's kill or be killed
So many times
It's a matter of degrees
From being up on your luck
To down on your knees

It's a hellish inferno
This is war eternal

They try to change you
Crush and break you
Try to tell you what to do
They love to have control of you
Back against the wall
In danger of losing it all
Search deep inside
Remember who you are

It's times like these
When lines are drawn
Which side of the fence
Are you standing on?
There will come a day
Not so far away
When the hunter
Becomes the prey
(and you will pay)

It's a hellish inferno
This is war eternal

They try to change you
Crush and break you
Try to tell you what to do
They love to have control of you
Back against the wall
In danger of losing it all
Search deep inside
Remember who you are

This is fucking war!

They try to change you
Crush and break you
Try to tell you what to do
They love to have control of you
Back against the wall
In danger of losing it all
Search deep inside
Remember who you are"

3. The Haunted

Are you feeling so angry you wanna punch someone as hard as you can? this is the band for you. It has so much power and energy that nullyfies all your anger, it's funny, because this band's energy actually is like a punch to the head. They started as a Hardcore Thrash Metal on the The Haunted album, and it was so unbelievable the energy they displayed, that immediately got stuck in me, why? Of course it was because i've listened the first time when i was in highschool, with a lot of conflicts in my mind (you know, hormonal issues, puberty and stuff), i found something where to dissolve my anger in that moments, and be a happy man in real life. Weird, right?

Now i have this band into my workout music list, it motivates me a lot.

This one, with Shattered are my favourite songs ever.

Lyrics:

"Relentless,
I gather a mind of a kind unknown to all.
Each revelation, knowledge earned through blood and sweat.
My scars are worn with pride.
I count on no one but myself.

Going down
Last call!
All amounts
to what you are!

Hopeless.
Useless fucking mind trip drains your soul.
Faceless names to rule your fate.
No man shall hold me down.
No man shall own what's mine
(ain't no such thing as a free ride...)

Going down
Last call!
All amounts
to what you are!

Going down
Last call!
All amounts
to what you are!

Reality bites
Jaws of life.
Open wide
Time to die.

What is a mind?
A terrible thing to fight.
Now you see
What lives inside...

I bid my time.
Judge, jury and executioner.
An eye for an eye.
A permanent measure to your lies.

Christ smiles in Hell.

Going down
Last call!
All amounts
to what you are!"
