Cats have a very powerful sense of smell and owners may be interested to learn that many cats don't like the following aromas. Strangely enough, some of the smells that cats are not keen on are things that can cause them harm so maybe nature has a hand in it.
MINT
Many cats are known to dislike the smell of mint and mint-related odors.
This is actually a good thing as ingesting mint is known to cause vomiting and diarrhea.
LAVENDER
Lavender is again toxic to cats and can make your feline friend sick.
So it's convenient that many cats dislike the smell of lavender.
BANANAS
Many cats are known to be not too keen on the smell of bananas. It's believed that the potassium the fruit contains is the aroma that puts cats off.
Bananas are not strictly toxic to cats but are not a particularly recommended dietary asset for them either.
CITRUS
Many cats dislike the smell of lemons, limes, orange and even grapefruit.
Some owners have been known to spray citrus scents near furnishings they don't want their cat to scratch.
CEDAR AND PINE
Many cleaning products contain a cedar or pine fragrance.
As these products can be toxic to cats it's handy that many cats can't stand the smell of them.
SPICES
Spicy aromas such as curry, mustard and pepper aren't usually on a cat's favorite list.
Ingesting strong spices can be detrimental to a cats health.
