Growing up, I was always taught to be successful. In my parents eyes, they wanted me to live a rich and lavish lifestyle. They wanted me to surround myself with “high-end” individuals, meaning people that would bring me up as a person. My initial reaction to this reading was that it had a different message than what my family always taught me. At school, we would often hear that we should help others, but this text really goes deeper to show that we need to feel satisfied and fulfilled once we do help someone. I believe that this text really brought a new perspective to my eyes on how to view the world. Instead of just focusing on my ride and my journey, I should have to feel fulfilled, and that might mean helping others along the way. Another important message that I remember was how we should try to make the heavens on earth. I remember this exact verse from one of my bible study classes earlier in life. And to be frank, I do believe that through God’s hands and God’s help, we can truly create a balance of our lives.
