As we are all patiently waiting for the Cardano Africa Special to be unveiled, an interview with John O’Connor, IOHK’s Director of African Operations revealed that a BIG Government deal will most likely be closed by the end of February. 

"What I can say is that we are at the final stages of a large government contract that would have multimillion users being onboarded onto the platform for real-world blockchain implementation” he said in the interview...We have quite reasonable plans to onboard 100 million users on this identity platform within the next year or two. This might seem ambitious, but actually, the scale of the African continent means that it’s quite realistic"

They are leveraging Atala Prism for deploying an identity solution for the unbanked people of Africa! They also are working in 5 more countries including  Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. Use, utility, and adoption is coming to Cardano with the Mary hard fork happening at the end of the month as well. The full roll out of smart contracts will be live Q2 of 2021.
