"Black Tuesday"
By: Brandy Seymour
2001
It was a crisp, clear morning.
September was without warning.
Lady Liberty stood tall and proud,
Unaware of the rising dark cloud.
Her mighty twin sons were injured.
Just before nine, peace shattered,
The terror of war arriving soon after.
When they crashed, it was chaos.
Like Black Tuesday, it was infamous,
A Harbor that could have matched Pearl’s.
Now she stood witness before her peril,
And though they died,
It was not without pride,
For the children of New York
Then stood united, side by side.
Called to arms by 9 and 11,
They responded with unity.
As freedom cried out loud,
The civilian sacrifices made
Shall never, ever fade.
