A few years after the creation of JPM coin, JP Morgan is experimenting with a new international payment system through the blockchain.
According to Bloomberg, the aim is to make cross-border payments and settlements faster. They also mention that, a new Deposit Token will be created, which is a transferable digital currency that represents a deposit request sent to a commercial bank, and which constitutes the digital version of the deposits that bank customers hold in their fiat currency accounts.
It is therefore possible to believe that this token will be pegged by the US dollar, at least in the initial release phase, and then other fiat currencies will be added.
JPMorgan in a recent study wrote:
“We believe that deposit tokens will become a widely used form of money within the digital asset ecosystem, much like commercial bank money in the form of bank deposits which constitutes over 90% of circulating money today.”
