Looking for solutions to global issues is no easy task. It takes a collective effort from multiple organizations and countries to tackle problems like climate change, over-population, and job automation taking away the dull, dirty, and dangerous jobs.
Space Exploration
With efforts like looking for other planets to possibly colonize in the future, we see another space race happening. NASA even officially announced recently their partnership with SpaceX, Blue Origin and others for a 2024 date to land humans on the moon again.

Climate Change
Now we're far from colonizing other planets but more and more reports are revealing the climate change data that points towards not being able to stop climate change. But we can slow it down.
According to NASA and many official governments and independent organization's data, carbon dioxide levels are at an all-time high.

Internet Businesses/Business Over The Internet
It can take a lot of resources to run businesses and organizations. Employees needed to commute to the workplace, powering these buildings, paperwork, and the list can go on.
We see the help of technology reduce our carbon footprint with the internet where more and more businesses don't require to have so many physical retail locations as online e-commerce is have had tremendous growth. Just ask Jeff Bezos the CEO of Amazon. But just that is not enough to slow down climate change.

According to Macrotrends, you can see Amazon's growth every year in annual revenue and many other companies in e-commerce.
Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality
We're getting closer with virtual reality and more popular recently due to smartphones is augmented reality.
What does VR/AR have to do with solving global issues?
If we can build a 2nd digital world(in many ways we already have), that could make part of the world's population not need to be out organizing at physical locations. Less traffic and need of commute, less physical business and organizational locations, just less consumption of resources overall a drastically reduced carbon footprint. Of course, we will still have our physical world, but we can get the best of [both worlds]

There is even a digital reality called mixed reality something Microsoft has been working on.
If you have seen the movie Ready Player One, we can see a glimpse of the idea of a digital world called "The Oasis". Items collected in this world such as coins can be collected and purchase goods and services in the digital world and the physical world.
Can we create a digital world like this an incentivize production? Well, we would need a digital currency and some of you might of already see where this is going. We happen to already have quite a few.

Crypto-Currencies
With the creation of blockchain technology and crypto-currencies, we have a key system to incentivize production in the digital world. We already see early concepts running like WAX's VR game or one built on Steem's blockchain known as @dlux-io

Conclusion
With rising concerns of people losing jobs to automation, there are many ways people are working in the crypto-currency ecosystem. Some content creators, developers, and internet platforms that offer goods and services. This ecosystem can also allow more people with physical disabilities to be able to contribute in the 2nd world.
