What's Algorand?
Algorand is a network created by Silvio Micalli.
What's a Faucet?
A faucet is a great way of testing a crypto network like Algorand, you give your address and the faucet will send you some real amount, usually some fraction of a coin. The first faucet was created by Gavin Andresen and gave 5 BTC per captcha solved. Community users can send the faucet address some coins to keep the faucet working if it depletes.
It's a great way to start and to promote a network, in this case the Algorand Faucet has a unique way of working which doesn't make a profit but it is self-sustainable, it does have initial capital by the creator locked into it.
How does the Algorand Faucet it work?
You can request a share of the daily rewards pool by submitting your Algorand address and completing a captcha every 3 hours (180 minutes), that means you can get as much as 8 shares of the pool per day. There's also a way to earn more by completing questionnaires but I don't recommend those as the rewards / effort ratio is way off (15 mins min. per 3 or 5 extra shares).
