Decimated City!

Decimated: A Post Apocalyptic Blockchain Game!

By Luke B | Blockchain Games | 9 Jan 2020

I found out about this game through Uptrennd.com, Ex markets as their exchange is support Decimated token pre-sale!

So after looking through their website/roadmap/whitepaper and watching some teaser videos on YouTube, i thought i would do a brief write up on Decimated and where the Developers plan to take this game.

Intro:

A Fracture Labs creation, Decimated is an rpg/action-adventure/MMO that's based on a destroyed, dried up earth where all the resources have been abused by corporations and neglected for greed!

This world is full of all types of criminals and rogues however even through all the destruction and decimation, a cyborg army enforces the laws of the wasteland!

Only privileged citizens were permitted onto the new world and the unworthy left behind meaning criminals, rebels and political traitors and of course the poor! As a player, you will salvage resources, technology, and digital currency, repair vehicles, build bases and fortify shelters, Hunt, loot, and trade in a hostile environment and Thrive!

The Game, Decimated:

It's being built on Unreal Engine 4 so we should be putting out a very nice display! As the majority of top-name games use unreal engines, its also boasting a 64Km persistent online world that does not get me wrong is not massive but definitely big enough if you compare it to say GTA 5 map which is 75Km squared. Worlds that can hold millions of players which if that's the case i hope they make the map 3 or 4 times the size it is now though.

Its economy will run on the blockchain so it will be a live in-game economy being backed by real value which is always great to see! It gives the game potential to be a moneymaker for its players, they are introducing a game feature where when you are savaging you will find cryptocurrencies, i think that is very cool for a modern game! The graphics for Decimated look like they will blow Alterverse out of the water! However, Alterverse is nearly a finished game and Decimated is just a concept a long way from alpha or beta!

So quick recap of the game engine and Feature info.

  1. Unreal Engine 4.
  2. 64Km squared Persistent Online World.
  3. Millions Of Players.
  4. Competitive Survival Gameplay.
  5. Blockchain-Based Economy.
  6. Salvageable Crypto
  7. Human Citizens vs Cyborg Cops.

The Team and background(Fracture Labs).

They have a highly experienced and skilled team! two of the Devs being and Unreal Engine Artist! The CEO himself has been involved with AAA games for the last 15 years and has worked with numerous big names in the industry. These 3 are the ones i picked out but honestly check out their team they have a seriously well rounded strong team for the development of this game!

Titles that are linked to the team members are huge such as DOOM and Halo Wars, The Division, Evolve and they are in partnership with the team that created the Halo platform and 5518 studios who just recently had involvement with the release of apex legends

I shall share the link for people to go and look on the website for the rest of the cyborg cop art.

The Economy.

The in-game currency is called DIO which is an ERC20 token so it can be stored in all ERC20 wallets.

So they have 1,000,000,000 DIO tokens which are all in circulation and are finite so none are created and none are destroyed, by using this method they hope to stop hyperinflation by players farming the token by repeated actions. That's why blockchain makes total sense for this as every transaction is recorded and requires a smart contract to finalize it which should protect from fraud and manipulation. The value of the token will be set at 0.05 cents but could decrease or increase depending on certain things in the future.

Cryptography and Digital Scarcity

We use cryptography to ensure that additional tokens are not generated or cloned, to maintain a stable economy, and we introduce new and interesting gameplay features to keep the demand up for our tokens. Tokens can be earned by doing missions, used to buy, sell, trade or barter items, stolen from other players or non-playable characters. Every method of obtaining DIO comes with varying risks and rewards.

The alternative to this is items that can be manipulated, and the number in existence can be influenced by player actions. Let’s say a player decides to mine elements from the Earth – such as silicon – we know that there’s a finite amount on the planet, but it’s not all in circulation. The player physically mines the silicon, and each unit is tokenized using blockchain. He can then transport this to a processing station and receive DIO tokens as payment, or, trade the silicon for something else of equal value.

The world (Map).

So from the videos and photos, i have seen, the world map looks stunning! Looks like a lot of effort has gone into the creation of the world which is always a huge positive for me personally but i hope it does not compromise on the gameplay too much! A balance is always needed with gaming, throughout my 20 something years of gaming i have always found my favorite games are the ones which have a good balance of all the important features.

Fracture Lab started out in Q2 2018 so they have been around for a year now and i assume working on Decimated since that time.

My Conclusion.

I see huge potential here or i would not have spent the last half a day researching and reading/watching to find out the working details and plans for this game. It helps being a fast reader ;)

So from Decimated trailers, about info and the content on the web/official site for it, i can see this is going to be a very busy game! The world is big enough to explore and hunt, build as you please but small enough you won't feel alone.. However, regarding the world map i do hope that they can increase its size with an update later on or something as to really make a game with this much potential and detail you need a map that will keep players busy for months! By being a lover of games like fallout and elder scrolls and generally games with huge maps i find after 2/3 months the map does not seem that big as you have been everywhere, so in my eyes the bigger the map the better but that's just my personal preference and i can see why Decimated will have a reasonable size map as it will keep it engaged and alive i just hope with that many players on one map it will not become too overpopulated which could damage the game's release which would be a shame!

I love the idea of the economy! Real-life economy run by smart contracts, whether your trade is mining resources and selling them for DIO or looting other players your transaction will be safe and you will be the sole owner of that hard-earned DIO!

They have a store where you can buy DIO and i shall list the prices down below,

  1. 10,000 DIO : $499.99
  2. 20,000 DIO : $999.99
  3.   50,000 DIO : $2,499.99
  4.  100,000 DIO : $4,999.99

You can purchase these instead of earning them which if you can afford it will give you a huge kickstart when it comes to in-game items and resources, one would assume you could have a higher quality base and equipment with such Fiat injection!

It's good though that either way buying these will not affect the economy at least, stopping people who can afford to buy multiple DIO Token packs from the store, manipulating the economy usually killing the game for the ones who have to earn it and grind.

This write up is based on information from the official site and my own opinions and assumptions, it is not financial advice as this write up is more about the game itself and what it offers.

I do look forward to keeping an eye on this game as at the moment there is not much info relating to gameplay or the concept of the gameplay, like will it be a free roam open world MMO or will it be game modes instead? I am not overly sure about these questions however i do hope it is an open world and does seem to be an open-world type of game for the fact you can build/hunt/mine/salvage/raid and they are usually the features of an open world MMO :)

If they get the design right which by looking at the images and teaser videos they look very sharp and very refreshing for a blockchain game!

Plus if the market/trading and economy work out how they planned and get a good size user base using it daily it could become a very valuable game through people wanting to put hours in to earn a certain amount being able to exchange what you've earnt for ETH is not a bad way to make currency.

We shall see and as time goes on i shall post updates. I hope like Alterverse, Decimated delivers on its vision and delivers a contender for the mainstream titles!
