CoronaCoin: Macabre Crypto without morals

By SylarHeisenberg | blockchain-blog | 14 Mar 2020

This so called "CoronaCoin" wants to profit from the pandemic drama.

The CoronaCoin project wants to map the corona virus pandemic on the blockchain. For this purpose, 7,604,953,650 units of the "crypto currency" were initially punched out of the ground - one token per person. Every 48 hours the total supply decreases: One token is destroyed for every new coronavirus infected. No more CoronaCoins can be created. This deflationary supply structure should make the CoronaCoin, which is listed under the abbreviation NCOV on some decentralized Bitcoin exchanges, more and more valuable over time.

In my opinion this is already more than just tasteless.

Meanwhile, the "White Paper" gives the CoronaCoin an enlightening image:

By putting the information about the number of infections and deaths on the block chain, it allows this data to reach authoritarian countries uncensored. This allows people to understand the true impact of the virus and prepare for possible situations accordingly.

According to the white paper, the CoronaCoin team is currently developing distributed applications (dApps) for NVOC. There is also talk of an "educational strategy game" with NCOV reference.

CoronaCoin: Soon starts a first dApp

One of the CoronaCoin developers told the crypto-message portal Decrypt what one can imagine by this:
"We thought what if we could allow players to create their own virus instead of cats,"
said programmer Kemp with reference to the once hyped dApp CryptoKitties. The game "Plague ETH" is about the development and spreading of viruses. It is supposed to be a turn-based multiplayer game in which players try to trigger a pandemic. The pedagogical element would consist in the dissemination of basic knowledge about the spread of viruses:

The rate of infection and the severity of the virus depend on how you construct the virus. So if you have a virus that does not spread well in cold weather and you start the game in Sweden, you won't get very far,

so Kemp to Decrypt. The dApp is expected to be released in beta-status in two to three weeks.
