In January 2025, Donald Trump, preparing for his inauguration, introduced his own cryptocurrency called TRUMP. The launch took place on January 17, and within the first 24 hours, the value of the token rose by more than 300%, reaching a market capitalization of about $13 billion. 

Two days after the launch, TRUMP became the 19th largest cryptocurrency in the world, with a total trading value of about $29 billion. During the same period, Donald Trump's wife, Melania introduced her own meme token called MELANIA. 

However, after the inauguration on January 20, 2025, the value of TRUMP declined by 26% and MELANIA lost about half of its value. This decline occurred amid Trump's lack of specific statements on cryptocurrency policy. 

The launch of TRUMP drew criticism from ethics experts and members of the cryptocurrency industry. Many expressed concern about a possible conflict of interest, as the president can influence the regulation of a market in which he himself is involved. Some analysts have compared the situation to fraudulent schemes where creators launch a token and quickly abandon it, leaving investors with losses. 

Some believe that the launch of TRUMP could cause it tremendous political damage in the future. Investments in this cryptocurrency by businessmen and foreign officials will be seen as corruption.

Nowadays, one can find many stories of how both tokens were bought at their maximum price and subsequently received only losses. At the same time, the future fate of TRUMP and MELANIA is not particularly clear: it is clear that they are meme coins, but even the most egregious scam projects had a roadmap.
