Disclaimer 2: What follows is a non-Crypto related piece.  I think it is useful to those who use Amazon's Audible.

First of all, I used to believe that MORE number of books you read the better you are.

However, after having read 100s of books an epiphany of sorts dawned on me, that is "You cannot read books on meditation to reap the benefits of meditation, you cannot go through books like it was a fast food menu and gain anything out of them."

After this epiphany, I still read new books, but I go back to the books I already have and skim through them again.  I now believe that "reading one book 30 times is far more valuable than reading 30 books 1 time."

In my quest to add a new book to my 'next reading', I stumbled upon "Leadership is Language."  Given my 'read one book well before you move onto next' philosophy - I have not subscribed to Audible's monthly subscription.  I buy book when I am ready instead of paying a monthly subscription to Amazon.

Amazon's price for this book was $25 (see below). 

That made me look for options.

And here is what I found on Google Play   & Apple Books

Both Google and apple have listed the same audio book for 41% lower cost. 

If it were not for the cost of this book - I would not have looked for options and when I did, this sorta pissed me off.  I have been a loyal Amazon customer for over a decade now and I have formed a general expectation of 'not getting fukked over' by Amazon from a price point.  However, after this experience - I might have to rethink.

Monopoly will kill the healthy competition

You will see that only players that can now compete with Amazon, in general, are Walmart, Google, Apple, etc., However, no one can compete with Amazon in all areas - that is, WalMart has its own niche while google/apple operate in a different landscape; Amazon competes in all playing fields. 

As more and more people search for things directly in amazon app instead of google to look for options, Amazon charges a premium for listing things on Amazon, as such, the publisher might have been forced to set a higher price, and that is why I thought I would share this experience hoping it would help others from splurging money.

Note: Amazon Audible sometimes has 'exclusive' audiobooks and I don't have a problem with them fixing whatever price they want.
