ALERT: What to expect from the FinCEN Rollout on Crypto, as proposed in US Budget 2020?

US Fiscal Budget 2020 has a specific mention of ‘Cryptocurrency threats,’ and requests $125 Million dollars to upgrade FinCEN to administer Bank Secrecy Act on Cryptocurrency under the supervision of the United States Treasury.

Page 82 of the Fiscal Budget 2020 states: “The Budget requests $125 million for FinCEN to administer the Bank Secrecy Act and focus on the prevention of terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crimes. These resources would expand FinCEN’s special measures enforcement activities and enhance its efforts to combat cybercrime and cryptocurrency threats.”
