The world's most indecipherable social network sold most of its crypto holdings

Reddit, one of the world's most indecipherable social networks, has sold most of its crypto holdings.

If you're thinking, "I had no idea it had crypto to begin with", then you're not alone.

But apparently it did.

According to a SEC filing, Reddit got rid of most of its ETH and pretty much all of its BTC.

“During the three months ended September 30, 2024, we sold the majority of our cryptocurrency portfolio, which consisted primarily of Bitcoin and Ether. The net carrying value of our cryptocurrencies, as well as the gain recognized on sale, was immaterial for the periods presented", a document shared by Reddit reads.

According to the document, Reddit apparently made $6.869 million from the sale.

This, by the way, probably marks Reddit's definitive departure from any attempt to deal with crypto.

Remember when Reddit said it would tokenise its in-app award/payment system? Yeah, that never happened.
