I don't know why people are so obsessed with the US public debt.
As long as the US dollar remains the world's dominant currency, which is definitely not going to change in our lifetime, then the US public debt doesn't matter.
That's like being afraid of running out of sand if you're on a beach.
And, when the US dollar will no longer be the world's dominant currency - be it 25, 50, 150 years from now - then this will mean the US will have become a much less relevant power and definitely no longer the world's first, which means the US will have other much bigger problems to worry about.
We tend to look at these things a*s-backwards.
Some people seem to think the US is the world's most dominant country because the US dollar is the world's leading currency, but it's actually the other way around.
The US has the world's largest economy, the world's largest military power with 750 bases in 80+ countries outside the US, it either directly or indirectly controls and influences 15 of the world's major straits on a planet where, reminder, about 90 percent of goods travels by water.
It also has by far the largest gold reserve in the world, and it holds gold that technically belongs to other countries (good luck asking it back).
This is why the US dollar is the world's dominant currency, and this is the reason why they can print as much as they want, and they spend as much as they want.
