A while back, Sui announced a new handheld gaming device called SuiPlay 0X1.
I had the opportunity to see it live at Sui Basecamp this year, great event by the way, and it looked good.
Sui had only brought a dummy prototype, but PlayTron, the company that helped them with the hardware and software for this device, had other similar products with them at the show, and one of the engineers told me 0X1 would roughly be the same in terms of interface.
I think onboarding people with hardware is a great idea, it's what Solana did with the Saga smartphone.
I really like the idea. But I don't like the price.
Sui is now accepting orders, and the device costs a whopping $599, with deliveries scheduled for Q1 or Q2 2025.
You can buy a PlayStation Portal and a Nintendo Switch and still have change in your pocket for that.
On the plus side, if you want to look at the silver lining, SuiPlay will allow you to play PC games, but also Web3 games developed on the Sui blockchain.
I don't really game much, in fact I don't game at all.
But if they made a phone, I'd be the first to buy it.
