Today I wanna talk about my my first Bitcoin wallet. And my ongoing half-a*sed attempt to retrieve it.
Several hundred thousand years ago, I set up my first-ever Bitcoin wallet. Which wallet? No idea. But the year was 2015 so that removes a lot of options from the table, doesn't it?
I sort of totally forgot about it and I'm assuming the wallet is empty. Or at least I hope it is because, of course, I can't regain access to it.
The other day I accidentally happened upon an encrypted file containing the private keys to my wallet. Might I reiteraite, even if I managed to decrypt it, and that's a big 'if', I wouldn't which wallet.
Furthermore, I know the square root of jacks*it about encryption so I don't know where to start. And I don't know I encrypted it in the first place. I'm assuming I simply clicked 'save', and the file was generated and encrypted automatically.
This is a wallet I used to use for faucets. Which means, in theory, that it's either empty or it only contains a few satoshis. The potential issue is that 'a few satoshis' back in 2015 means [at the very least] beer money in 2023.
So let's do this, does anybody know anything SSL encryption and how to decrypt? I'm 'bounty hunting' here, aren't I?
