NEW CASHSCRIPT PLAYGROUND MOCKNET

The CashScript Playground, an online IDE for writing CashScript smart contracts, has introduced a new ‘MockNet’ option. This feature allows users to create virtual UTXOs and validate smart contract transactions locally, providing precise error messages that map between high and low-level operations. The addition of MockNet is significant, as no other tooling for Bitcoin-like blockchains currently offers this developer experience. The CashScript Playground, inspired by Ethereum’s Remix, enables users to easily import/export contract Artifacts, test new versions of CashScript code, and create multiple contract instances with different arguments, streamlining the smart contract development process.

PICKYNODE 0.2.1 RELEASED

A new version of pickynode (0.2.1) has been released, introducing several updates and improvements. Ruby gem now supports all Ruby versions past 2.5 and is compatible with both Bitcoin Cash and BTC. The API has been updated to pull data from Blockchair instead of Bitnodes, and dependencies have been updated as well. Pickynode allows users to easily add, connect, ban, or disconnect Bitcoin nodes based on user agents, providing a simple way for individuals to be selective about the nodes they connect to. https://github.com/zquestz/pickynode

BITCOIN VERDE 2025 UPGRADE FLIPSTARTER

Bitcoin Verde, a full-node implementation of the Bitcoin Cash protocol, is seeking funding to implement the possilbe 2025 BCH Upgrades, supporting both the CHIP-2024–07-BigInt and CHIP-2021–05-vm-limits CHIPs. Bitcoin Verde has been migrating its internal database system from MariaDB to LevelDB for the past 18 months to enhance transaction processing performance and resolve stability issues. The funding will also support the immediate (October 2024) creation of a proof-of-concept (POC) implementation of these CHIPs to facilitate research, adoption, and implementation diversity prior to their proposed activation in 2025.
