The Journal of Global Surgery (ONE) continues its innovative approach to academic publishing with a newly released opinion piece, “A Decade Of Progress In Global Surgery: Expectations And Commitments For Latin America.” Published just a month after its inaugural issue, JoGS (ONE) leverages Bitcoin Cash to offer early access to articles for minimal fees, exemplified by this article’s $0.10 early access option. This approach aims to disrupt traditional medical journal paywalls by making research more accessible and affordable, as highlighted by the fact that community payments have already covered the open access fee for this latest publication. By utilizing BCH for micropayments and open access funding, JoGS (ONE) is exploring a new model for disseminating vital global medical research.
BCHD UPGRADE CAMPAIGN CASHES IN FOR 2025
BCHD’s ambitious 2025 upgrade campaign has successfully been funded, reaching its funding goal of 86.77 BCH. The funds will fuel the implementation of key Bitcoin Cash improvements, namely CHIP-2021–05 VM Limits and CHIP-2024–07 BigInt, promising beefier smart contracts and more precise math for BCH. Spearheaded by developer OPReturn, BCHD, a Bitcoin Cash full node favored for its developer-friendly nature (more on that in their project overview), is set to level up for the 2025 network upgrade. KNUTH NODE COURTS DEVELOPERS WITH VM UPGRADES
Knuth Node is getting serious about developer love, dropping a stack of updates focused on its Bitcoin Cash Virtual Machine (VM). Fresh versions of the C++ API v0.52.0, C-API v0.61.0, and JS-WASM v2.5.0 are now available, each with VM enhancements for better performance and adaptability. The aim is to bring Bitcoin Cash scripting to developers everywhere, combining C++ efficiency with the approachability of TypeScript.
