Much like Stardew Valley, "World's Dawn" is heavily inspired by the classic farm-simulation game, Harvest Moon, that was first released back in 1996, that gathered around itself something of a cult-following.  Unlike many other games around at the time Harvest Moon was a relatively relaxing affair, placing you in charge of resurrecting a somewhat derelict farmstead, while placing an importance on building and maintaining social relationships with your fellow townsfolk.

In more recent years what could arguably be said to be a Harvest Moon clone (with some degree of originality and a little more modern polish) going by the title of "Stardew Valley" has received considerable critical acclaim in it's own right, boasting an overall "overwhelmingly positive" (the highest) rating over at Steam at time of posting.  Repackaging and rekindling that past love of Harvest Moon as it does for those who treasured it back in the day, while also introducing a new generation of gamers to the originals beloved "life on the farm" flavor - that few games since had been able to scratch the itch of, for those who had been hankering for something similar.  And for a game format that proved to be so popular both in its original form, and with the more recent Stardew Valley - there aren't too many other options available for those who enjoy this particular style of game.

World's Dawn however, is another considerably less discussed and discovered title, that also offers that Harvest Moon vibe and style of game-play.

The main difference being that it cuts out a fair amount of the farming grind (but certainly not all of it).  Farming, mining, fishing, social-relationships and all that jazz still make up the fundamentals of the game. And in my opinion it does it very well.  And I'm kind of surprised that I had to dig so deep to find this title when searching for a Harvest Moon-like game, when Stardew gets so much praise.  As there's very little mention of World's Dawn anywhere, not even on most lists of "Harvest Moon-like" games I could find dotted around the internet.

Arguably the controls are a little clunkier, being seemingly made in RPGMaker (which I personally consider to be a great achievement), and it lacks a little of the polish of Stardew - but if you're a fan of this kind of game - you should enjoy it.  I did.  There's a reason games like these (Animal Crossing New Horizons as one example) are doing particularly well right now, and you just have to read the users reviews to find it - and that's the Coronavirus.

With the real-world being kind of muddled, stressful, and full of unknowns people are drawn towards games that transport them to a simpler place.   A happier place.  Full of wholesome endearing colorful characters, and a world within which the player is (more-or-less) in full control.  And for many, that's an appealing kind of place to which to escape to right now...
