COVID-19, Lockdowns, Markets, Economy, and Bitcoin's Surprising Hold Around $7000!

Better Call Paul Blog

We've never experienced anything like the COVID-19 Pandemic, and the longer we continue down this rabbit hole, the stranger the behavior of those in power become. Some have worked together across party, state, and local lines in order to make things better, while others have decided to do the opposite and make this crisis an excuse for unprecedented power grabs.
Those of you who have accused me and my American compatriots as being "stupid" for cherishing our freedom more than we fear a disease -- I feel compelled to make the point here that, in the United States, one of our founding sentiments as a nation is "Give me liberty or give me death." There is no "except for in cases of pandemic..." predicate to that sentence.
I offer you one more quote, much more contemporary...
"Quarantine is the restriction of movement of people who are ill. Tyranny is the restriction of movement of healthy individuals."
Unfortunately, the Governor of Michigan has decided to use the situation to further impose tyrannical controls on one's ability to check on their loved ones by restricting movement "between residences."
Keep in mind that gatherings of over 10 people have already been restricted, so this new edict does nothing but further impose unnecessary controls on liberty, something that no true American can support. Where it is reasonable, yes -- but I've said it much longer than Donald Trump said it -- the cure can't be worse than the disease.
It appears as though these statements of misinformation are designed to induce panic across the nation, as people fear a fast-spreading virus combined with an inability to protect themselves.
Effective 04/11/2020, Michigan residents will no longer be able to pop in to the neighbor's house for a cup of sugar; to play a co-op session of your favorite multiplayer game; or even stop by to see how your friends and family are doing during this pandemic.
Governor Whitmer, who has famously drawn the ire of the federal government for some of the ridiculous actions she has taken during this pandemic, went all out today, issuing a directly banning all travel "between residences."
Such an order is nothing more than the enforcement of martial law, violation of constitutional rights, and a power grab by this unstable governor. Unfortunately, instead of truly worrying about her constituents, she instead uses her bully pulpit to trash the President.
Meanwhile, Governor Newsom of California -- arguably one of the farthest left governors in the nation -- has put politics aside and has praised Trump's responsiveness and assistance to the state of California during this crisis.
The point is --
The virus should not be a political weapon. It is a destructive organism that infects, sickens, and kills its hosts. It is not Republican or Democrat. Our response should never be a political response, but we all know how politicians think....
"Never let a crisis go to waste"
This is the mantra of Washington, DC during times of crisis, be it a political scandal, a natural disaster, or this pandemic. Life-long politicians like Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer came together and made the CARES Act a reality, but they have now devolved into taking political shots at each other on news interviews.
Meanwhile, you still can't get a pack of gloves or masks at your local Wal-mart, and this is causing mass panic across the nation as politicians use a supposed "PPE Shortage" to make their own calculated attempts to get more money for their state from federal taxpayer coffers.
What they aren't telling you, while they induce this panic, is that you can find all of your personal protective equipment online.
In 2 seconds, while writing this post, I found available 50-packs of surgical face masks and gloves ready to ship right this second.
50-Pack of 3-ply Surgical Face Masks -- CLICK TO ORDER
100-Count (50 pair) of Nitrile Gloves, powder-free and hypoallergenic -- CLICK TO ORDER
The fact that I was able to sit down, find these, create links, and post them into this article -- all in a matter of 90 seconds -- is evidence that people simply are being misled with all of the reports of manufacturer shortages. It appears as though these statements of misinformation are designed to induce panic across the nation, as people fear a fast-spreading virus combined with an inability to protect themselves.
As a matter of fact, as the day wears on, I will likely be posting a resource with links to over 50 items that are very useful during this Stay At Home time. I think it to be absolutely ridiculous that people think that are going to be at increased risk to catch COVID-19 because local retailers continually run out of PPE supplies.
Meanwhile...Updates on Economy Reopening and Cryptocurrency Markets
Some experts in the United States, namely Dr. Anthony Fauci and others, have issued some very cautiously optimistic forecasts that May could be the month that the US and World economies are able to reopen, with Fauci adding the caveat that it would likely need to be a "rolling reopening."
This is much better news than we have heard in quite some time, and is evidence that the REASONABLE social distancing guidelines that we have enacted have had positive impacts on stopping the spread.
Also.
Bitcoin continues to hold pretty steady to it's post-COVID-crash recovery point at around $7,000. With the halving imminent, I believe that we are going to see the value of BTC quickly (and by this, I mean....6-12 months) rise. As the world is forecast to enter into a major recession, more and more "normies" will look to alternative stores of value, and crypto will likely be the first place they look.
In my opinion, and that's exactly what this is -- my opinion -- all of the "solid" alts are also good bets rights now, including Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), Ethereum (ETH), and BAT especially. Out of these, I think that BAT has one of the most unique and realistic use cases, and I am right now putting a large amount of my holdings into BAT.
Thats all for right now, folks.
