No recovery here!

I am a clinician and it’s my job to help people be well, stay well and get well!

Hard to do here in the USA especially where I live in Arizona.   Many European countries are on their way to recovery but we in the US are not because some way many made this about Politics. It is not!!!    

Here’s perspective from a friend living in Croatia. 

Friend: I’m praying for you guys. Here in Europe when we went on lockdown we had police at each county. No one could leave your town. It was real lockdown. That’s what it takes. The US is so far from what’s needed. Stay safe ❤️

Me:  I could not agree more but this pandemic has become political and that’s just wrong! There is a lack of education and lack of understanding that we could have learned from other countries. This will draw out indefinitely and many more will unfortunately get sick and our healthcare workers are getting sick and many in the frontlines are exhausted. Very sad to see this!

Friend:  yes you’re right. Trust me it was horrible to have our freedom of movement taken away but inevitably it stopped it because everyone pulled together and did what we were told by the health ministers.

Me: seriously there is a disconnect understanding a true public health crisis vs rights temporarily limited. No different then a temporary law. People got all upset about seatbelts and helmets. Really no different and this would be temporary for the good of all.

friend: Exactly 

Then we have people protesting Masks while others fight for their lives.  Can’t we just do one thing as a United front?   We are all tired but to beat this down it takes discipline and cooperation. 

Imagine if there was a war and the draft was enacted ?????  Heaven help us!  

Congrats to all the countries and states that are well on their way to recovery and to those that have and are recovered from Covid.  What did they have in common- masking and not thinking this was fake and political but a REAL pandemic which it IS

When I wrote the word recovery on my Cancer Alphabet list never in my wildest dreams did I think this would be the blog for today.
