Google Maps is a popular mapping service that has been around for years. It allows users to explore different parts of the world, locate businesses, and even leave reviews. However, many users don't realize that their contributions to Google Maps can be turned into a passive income stream.
As a level 6 tour guide, I have personally found a way to create a small but steady passive income stream through my Google Maps contributions. While I wouldn't necessarily recommend starting a Google page now, I do believe that there are still ways to make money from it if you have already invested time into it.
One way to earn money from your Google Maps contributions is to offer reviews for a small commission. Since I have reviewed so many places with video and photo, it has become a way for me to earn a little extra income on the side. While it can be time-consuming to add new contributions, building a large collection of restaurants, stores, and roads can be valuable if you know what you're doing.
Companies are always looking for an easy way to get extra customers, and if you have a tour guide badge, you could try asking local companies first if they would like a review. From there, you can start moving around the country or world. To make sure a company is interested in your offer, it would be a good idea to create phases, so like phase 1 could be a review for $10 USD, and each phase would go up, with video also being an option, maybe as the most expensive option in your phases.
For a business to pay such a cheap fee with the possibility to get new customers and also that the review will never run out, you have a selling point. You just need to have a big enough portfolio, also with the amount of views as this proves people are using your information.
As someone in the marketing business, I found a way to make some passive income from a company that doesn't think this way and doesn't want to share what they make from our own information. Every day, I wonder when these people are going to change and start sharing with us. Instead of us having to carve our own way through this hard industry where only a few stand out.
While I wouldn't encourage anyone to start a Google page now, if you're like me and when you were more naive, you opened everything, then I would say take advantage of it. I hope very soon there is a company that can give Google a run for their money. And I hope it's decentralized.
