"You Are The Average Of The Five People You Spend The Most Time With"
- Jim Rohn
Each of us have a window in which we look at the world. That window have 4 panes: Education, Exposure, Experience, and either Humility or Arrogance. Each of us have people in our lives from the day we take our first breath until the day we die. Those people heavily influence the way we think and act. While those people influence us, they do not determine us.
The world if filled with all types of people and it's ultimately our CHOICE as to who we spend our time with. The quote above should really be cemented into our thought progress as we go about our day. I've been incredibly fortunate to have intersected with some high quality folks and I believe I am better because of it. Not everyone I've come in contact with have inspired me to be the best version of myself, but when that is not the case, I try to limit my exposure to them.
I do not advocate cutting people off or out of your life, but I'd encourage you to be very careful how much of their thinking you allow to get inside of your head. I remember having a roommate and he mentioned he was paying off his car a few years in advance. They way I thought growing up was you just pay the minimum until you pay it off. His actions were positive on me and I did the same; a great decision that have morphed into other financial areas of my life and have improved my life.
I have people I associate with that impact all areas of my life and I believe just by having interactions with them, they propel me forward everyday of my life. While I think for myself and do what I desire to do, those small messages and the action I witness them taking, encourages me in a good way. No matter if it's health (physical/mental), finances, faith, relationships, career/education, or even in rest and relaxation - I have a well rounded life influenced by some very successful people.
If you've not taken inventory of those around you, I'd encourage you to take some time to think about this. Ask are those closest to you - holding you back or propelling you forward? I hope you watch this video and if not - leave me a comment, I'd love to hear from you!
