FAFO Parenting Style

So, readers, how many of you deploy this method of parenting?

I was raised in this style and while sometimes it was a bit extreme the point was well received. My momma didn't have to repeat things too many times. Of course as I got older the butt whippings became less and the reality of life hard times became more; either way I got the point. I'd love to hear your thoughts - does this parenting style work better than the softer gentler approach?
