“Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”
― L.M. Montgomery
IMHO, there is nothing better than a "Fresh Start." Sometimes life can give you more than you think you can handle. It's easy to get "behind" on health, on finances, on people, on work. The email box has 10,000 unread emails. Social media have tons red little dots all over your mobile device. You feel as if you are not accomplishing your goals.
That's when you need a "Fresh Start." It's a habit I've built into my life. From time to time, I push the reset button (Covey calls it sharpening the saw). I ask myself, if life ended tomorrow, what is the most important thing? I reset my goals, my relationships, I declare D-day on all those emails, messages, alerts. Now with a fresh clean slate, I determine what's important and not urgent and place my focus there.
We all mess up from time to time. The faster you recognize when you've reached your limit, the faster you will hit the reset button and relax a little. Life isn't an emergency ...
“The first step in becoming a more peaceful person is to have the humility to admit that, in most cases, you’re creating your own emergencies. Life will usually go on if things don’t go according to plan.”
Richard Carlson, Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff (Page 62)
So when you get behind, wipe the slate, and make a new plan Stan. Check your health (get that physical you've been putting off) because without a health you - the rest doesn't matter. If you've not been sticking to a budget, create one and start again. If you've broken relationships, apologize and start again. If you've not performed well at work, talk to your superior and implement a better plan and ask for accountability. Educate yourself daily to become a better you. Remember, do all you can do, and then relax.
