When $5 isn't just $5

Q?: How would you explain the blockchain economy to someone who's never heard of Bitcoin, Ethereum or any other DApp, Crypto, token etc?

A: I'd ask what is the value of their attention -- note YouTube, Facebook & other companies profiting off their attention -- ask if I gave them $5 to listen to me prattle on for 30 minutes would they listen? Then let them know that all day everyday there are projects, talks, and valuable digital tokens that will give you that money ... all day, everyday ... all you have to do is listen and earn.

... or I'd just go the Roger Ver route: Send them some Crypto, help them set up a wallet & let them know $5 may be worth $50 next year.

In any case: we are getting paid to learn about different projects created to better our collective lives; many people don't care about the block sizes of Bitcoin or transaction times ... especially with XRP around; many won't understand blockchain even when explained 5 times really slowly; but most know that USD$5 ... can buy a lot of things ... and $50 can buy a lot more ... then maybe, just maybe, they'll listen to other in depth topics.

Conclusion: I'm speaking from experience, but would love to read everyone else's responses to the question above :)
