People new to the crypto world have no idea about crypto and easily get caught in crypto scams. People use the fact that new users do not have the knowledge and try to cheat them to grab money. I have written about this several times in the past and why we have to be very careful with crypto projects. I thought I would share some more details on how they scam people. These types of scams happen not only on the X platform but also happens on Telegram and Discord too.
Nobody gives you free money
In general, people are getting the idea that they get a lot of giveaways on X platform and that's where everything starts. I understand that there are a few solid giveaways happening but there again, they might ask you to do something. But in general, we have to understand that nobody gives you free money. Even if someone is trying to do some giveaways, the value is not going to be over 10 dollars or 50 dollars at the max. If they do it, they are mad.
Some giveaways happen as part of the project's marketing initiative where they give you a small amount of money and they expect you to do some tasks for them. Some projects try to onboard new people with the help of a referral system and that can pay you. Otherwise, there is no possibility of getting free money without any effort.
Different types of scams
These days scammers are also getting matured and they are finding different ways to scam people. Yesterday I saw an interesting thing where someone asked the user to add their wallet details to Trust Wallet. After adding someone else's passphrase, they said the money is available in your Trust Wallet and it can be transferred to their personal wallet. Finally, they would ask them to send around 25$ as transaction fees.
This is the usual scam where they send a screenshot initially with the user's name in it. For someone new to the crypto world and for someone who is not very strong digitally might believe the scam. Then finally they would say that for you to receive the funds in the wallet, a fee of 25 or 30$ needs to be paid. Some people wake up when this is asked and some people fall into a trap and end up spending the money as the value looks very small.
