Splinterlands - Season end is nearing and more revenue from renting

By Bala | Bala Blockchain Gaming | 27 Aug 2021

The end of the season is usually the time when people rent more cards to go up the league. Especially the gold foil cards or legendary cards give better collection power compared to the other set of cards. More renting happens on the legendary and gold foil cards. I'm also planning to write an article on how much I get every season from the game or at least from renting alone. I don't know if it would be easy to calculate the total revenue easily from the API but for ease, I made the in-game DEC to null before the start of the current season and that will help me calculate how much I earned in total this season. Let's see.

From what I observed in the last season, I noticed that most of the renting happen only towards the end of the season. As we have only 3 days left for the season end, the renting will start getting heated up. This is the time when people will remove some of the cards from renting for the collection power and there will also be people who will be renting more cards from the market to increase their renting power. There will be huge competition from the demand and supply.

Observe the price keenly for the next 3 days

For people who are renting out their cards in the market, this is the most important thing. The cards that are there in the market for a long period of time can vary in price. We might have placed a card for 100 DEC per day but others would have been renting the same card for 800 DEC per day. This is when we end up in a small loss for not using the demand. Observing the price regularly and updating can help in increasing the earning opportunity and also make sure all our cards are rented out.

On the Peakmonsters page, there is an option available for us to check if we are keeping the price based on the demand or not. There is a button on the top right corner that can tell us if we are renting the cards for the correct price or not that satisfies the current demand and supply. Stopping the gameplay and renting all the cards that we have is also not a good strategy. There are many players who make a lot by playing than renting. They are slowly growing their stake in the game.

Renting is yielding more revenue for me

This season so far I have made around 20k DEC just from renting alone. I don't play the game regularly and I don't have time for tournaments as well. I have an alt account where I do play the game but with no stress and just casually. I wanted to keep it that way and play the game with no pressure. I still don't have the perfect deck for my casual gameplay because I'm wasting many Gold cards by keeping them idle.

But I'm glad that I'm making a decent revenue from renting out my cards. Till last season I was using Team share to get passive income from the cards. It was not very great as the cards collection I have is not perfect for playing tournaments or regular gameplay. But the deck was capable of reaching the diamond league. Now that the demand for the cards is high in the rental market, renting the cards that are unused itself gives a great revenue and apart from that renting out the cards that have good collection power is also good. I believe all my cards will soon get rented by players in the next 2 days as the demand increases towards the end of the season. Hopefully, 7k DEC at least for 3 days should be a good passive revenue every season if I'm not wrong.
