My watering pail I have wanted for a long time.

My garden is coming along nicely.

This post is just me showing off how my garden is coming along so far. Some of my plants are doing fantastic, while others are not doing so great. I think its ok though since I am still learning as I go. I do read tons of how to garden books and sites about gardening, but the best way to learn, especially for me is to just do it.

Everything in this first picture was grown from seed right about the time of my very first post on here. I'll provide a link to that post at the end. The plants here are listed left to right. The only plants I personally didn't grow from seed was the lettuce plants in the third picture. A very nice woman gave my gf quite a few different types of lettuce, not all of which made it into this post.

My plants in this picture are mustard, onions (not popped up yet), beets, and last in the left most box is romaine lettuce. In the smaller center box is my marigolds. The right section has some of my spinach, cayenne and jalapeño peppers.

Here I am showing off one black beauty and two summer squash. I also have some marigolds in here and of course, some weeds I still need to clean out. I also have a few voluntary Mexican sour gherkin cucumbers which I planted last year. These M.s.g. cukes are some of my favorite I have ever had. They are about the size of a quarter at the biggest.

In the left most section closest to the bottom is cherry and Amish paste tomatoes.

In the right most bottom is a few more tomatoes (more of the same) and butterhead and black seeded lettuce.

In the top most left side, I have two spaghetti squash and a one double yield cucumber. In the right side I have cayenne and jalapeño peppers along with a straight eight cucumber. For some reason none of my plants in that raised garden bed are doing as well as my other beds. I'm not sure why, but I'm going to keep letting them grow for a while longer before I plant something else.

In my repurposed gutter are a few beets (1st pic) and spinach (2nd pic). In the other two sections of this gutter nothing has really popped its head up yet which is why there aren't any pics of those sections. I think there may be a squirrel playing games with my plastic name tags because every time I go out to check on them, they are all pulled up. Today when I took these pics I found three of them. I couldn't find the name tag for my beets. I'll look harder the next time I go out.

I may also just have to put some wire netting over to keep him/her out of it. I am thinking I'll also turn one of my security cams that direction to see if I can catch him. If I do, I'll be sure make a post with that video and the wire netting I'll have to put over it to keep that rascally squirrel out. There will also be the link to how I repurposed the gutter at the bottom. :)

This is the front of my house with the beds I made from repurposed wood. I describe how I make them in another one of my posts which I'll link below. In the beds are more summer squash and black beauty squash. In the half barrel is my gf's 3-in-1 Angel Trumpet plant. We weren't going to put anything in these beds out front, but I finally talked my gf into allowing me putting them out there. YAY! She does love me. (most of the time..heh heh) This section isn't done yet as I'm sure you can tell. I most likely won't be allowed to put any veggies out there next year, but you can believe I'm gonna try.

See the name Layla? That is one of our doggies who passed away last year. She was diabetic and blind. We were going to have our porch widened the full length of our house for her, and the rest of our dogs. We had  six dogs including her and a cat so the porch is really way to small for us to sit out there with them. Not the cat though, she would run away and not come back for a while. She has actually gotten out our back door twice and didn't come home till late at night.

We actually paid a contractor to do the porch for us, but he only put in the base and never came back to finish the job. We decided to put her name on one of the beds and honor her this way since that damn contractor stole our money.

The top pic is of me showing off my very first watering can. My gf bought that for me last year. I'm such a lucky man.
