Contrary to popular belief, Lewis Carol didn't actually write that quote, although it is often attributed to him, starting about fifty years after his death. What he did write has a similar meaning, though. The first known/recorded use is as a common saying among the Pennsylvania Dutch community (whom have a penchant for phrases such as "the hardest button to button", very Carol-like in form).
Life (particularly adult life) is nonsensical, ridiculous and surreal. I don't know about what it's like for other people, but mine seems to get more so in direct proportion to how much adulting I do.
You have to do it running, but you do everything that they ask you to ...
"Oh, you wouldn't want an angel watching over ...
Surprise, surprise, they wouldn't wanna watch
Another uninnocent, elegant fall
Into the unmagnificent lives of adults."

Today, I lost a few hours of work to a stupid error I couldn't find, but which prevented my Web application from working. (It wouldn't display pages properly, including the error page.) Considering how far behind I already am and how much work I still have to do to get back on track (let alone finish), it was the exact opposite of what I hoped to achieve.
I think the problem lies with something (most likely configuration) I copied across from the previous project on which I was working, since I don't know much about ASP .Net MVC (particularly on starting and setting up a project). The problem is that the original developer's code isn't commented, so I know neither what it does nor why (and, therefore, if I need any of it). I really don't like doing that, since it's effectively cargo cult programming. It likely won't actually speed up my development and will come back to bite me in the long run.
Hopefully, I will be able to make up some time tonight, but I don't think it will be enough to get me to where I need to be.
On a somewhat tangential and unrelated note, I am just a search or two away from having 400 PRE (about 40% of the minimum balance required to be able to withdraw), thanks to all the code solutions I've been looking up since starting with MVC.
