In recent days, the Spanish sports press has been inundated with news related to the feat of Uniò Esportiva Cornellà, by eliminating Atlético de Madrid, in the 30th finals of the Copa del Rey. This result is not the product of luck, since Cornellà has been working for some time to achieve professional football.

En los últimos días, la prensa deportiva española ha estado inundada de noticias relacionadas con la hazaña de la Uniò Esportiva Cornellà, al eliminar al Atlético de Madrid, en los treintaidosavos de final de la Copa del Rey. Este resultado no es producto de la suerte, ya que el Cornellà lleva tiempo trabajando para alcanzar el futbol profesional.

Until 2012, the UE Cornellà was known in the world of Catalan football, for having one of the best youth football youth teams, behind FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol. From its ranks, players have emerged who have come to triumph in professional football, among which stand out: Jordi Alba (Valencia CF - FC Barcelona), Keita Baldé (SS Lazio - AS Monaco - Inter Milan - UC Sampdoria), Victor Ruiz (RCD Espanyol - Valencia CF - Villareal CF - Real Betis), and many others, who have joined the military in important clubs, such as Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid and Arsenal.

Hasta el año 2012, la UE Cornellà era conocida en el mundo del futbol catalán, por tener una de las mejores canteras de futbol base, por detrás de FC Barcelona y del RCD Espanyol. De sus filas, han surgido jugadores que han llegado a triunfar en el futbol profesional, entre los que destacan: Jordi Alba (Valencia CF - FC Barcelona), Keita Baldé (SS Lazio - AS Monaco – Inter de Milán - UC Sampdoria), Victor Ruiz (RCD Espanyol - Valencia CF – Villareal CF - Real Betis), y otros tantos, que han llegado a militar en importantes clubes, como el Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid y Arsenal.

At the end of 2012, with the arrival of a new Board of Directors (of which I was a part), the Club, bets on the first team and takes a step forward, to start an upward trajectory that continues to this day. In the 2013-2014 season, it achieved the long-awaited promotion to the second division B, in addition to qualifying for the first time in its history, for the Copa del Rey. Since this milestone, the team has not stopped growing and making history. During the 2014-2015 season, after spending three Cup qualifiers, he was eliminated by Real Madrid, in the round of 32, playing the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, and achieving his main objective of maintaining the category.

A finales del 2012, con la llegada de una nueva Junta Directiva (de la que formé parte), el Club, apuesta por el primer equipo y da un paso adelante, para iniciar una trayectoria ascendente que se mantiene hasta la actualidad. En la temporada 2013-2014, consigue el ansiado ascenso a la segunda división B, además de clasificarse por primera vez en su historia, para la Copa del Rey. A partir de este hito, el equipo no ha parado de crecer y de hacer historia. Durante la temporada 2014-2015, después de pasar tres eliminatorias de Copa, es eliminado por el Real Madrid, en los dieciseisavos de final, jugando el partido de vuelta en el estadio Santiago Bernabéu, y logrando su principal objetivo de mantener la categoría.

The proof that the UE Cornellà has a long-term project is that, of the last six seasons in the difficult Bronze category of Spanish football, it has managed to qualify to play the play-off for promotion to the second division in the three last, and staying within a match of promotion last season.

La prueba de que la UE Cornellà tiene un proyecto a largo plazo, es que, de las últimas seis temporadas en la difícil categoría de Bronce del futbol español, ha conseguido clasificarse para jugar el play-off de ascenso a la segunda división en las tres últimas, y quedándose a un partido del ascenso en la temporada pasada.
