Horizen starts from the premise that privacy is a basic right, added to the possibility of giving each individual the ability to have digital privacy, and the option to choose what to do with it.
As the development team explains, it is the first fully decentralized and fully customizable sidechain protocol in the crypto market. The idea of the side chain, arises to give the possibility to developers to easily create blockchain applications.
From the outset and without delving into its technology (Private, Secure, Resistant and Scalable), it was created as a hard fork of the ZCash cryptocurrency. Según explica el equipo de desarrollo, se trata del primer protocolo de cadena lateral, completamente descentralizado y totalmente personalizable del mercado criptográfico. La idea de la cadena lateral, surge para dar la posibilidad a los desarrolladores para que creen fácilmente aplicaciones de cadenas de bloques.
De entrada y sin profundizar en su tecnología (Privada, Segura, Resistente y Escalable), fue creada como una bifurcación dura de la criptomoneda ZCash. Una de las singularidades de esta red, es que permite a los usuarios controlar su huella digital, aportando privacidad de forma opcional. La forma de gestionar esta “privacidad opcional”, es mediante una dirección Z, totalmente privada y anónima, que oculta los datos de los remitentes y de los destinatarios, así como la cantidad de la transferencia, y una segunda alternativa, con una dirección T, en la que las operaciones se ejecutan de forma pública y transparentes.
HORIZEN dispone de un amplio y experimentado equipo multidisciplinar, además de estar asociados para la investigación y desarrollo, entre otras empresas, con INPUT-OUTPUT (IOHK), por lo que podremos ver de forma indirecta, la mano del conocido Charles Hoskinson, fundador de Cardado o cofundador de Ethereum, en este proyecto.
ZEN es su criptomoneda, ubicada entre las 100 principales por capitalización de mercado, y al igual que BTC, cuenta con un suministro máximo de 21.000.000, con unos 10,6 millones actualmente en circulación, aproximadamente el 50% del total.
