You Should Never Conflate Liberalism And Socialism

You Should Never Conflate Liberalism And Socialism

By Scott Cunningham | Tech And Things | 29 Jun 2019

Socialism is a terrible and evil ideology while liberalism is based on liberty, consent of the governed, and equality. Conflating these as the same is a mistake and should not be made so lightly.

When you conflate these as the same not only do you put a bad light on liberalism and anything left of the center, you also take away the real meaning and impact of the word socialism by using it so carelessly when that ideology is responsible for the deaths of millions of people. You do them a disservice as well and it's not far off from making careless remarks about tragic events like the Holocaust or 911 which we've seen made by AOC.

I'm ashamed to see my generation using socialism as a scapegoat out of their student debt which was accrued by the very same principals and ideals of socialism where left-leaning professors are dominating academia.
