
Briefly about the properties of red beet
Beets are a huge treasury of vitamins. They contain all of them, and most of all, vitamin C. They contain antioxidants - dyes called betalains. Due to the large amount of natural nitrogen compounds, they are called natural doping. Often, athletes drink pure beetroot juice before sports competitions. It has a positive effect on muscle strength and improves physical performance. Those less athletic drink beetroot borscht the next day 😉


Ingredients for borscht
1 kg of red beets, one large chicken body (or other meat for broth), 2 large carrots, 1 large parsley (root), 1 leek, green parsley, 1/2 celery, garlic. Spices: marjoram, salt, pepper, allspice, bay leaf, vegetable (cook or similar), soy sauce (maggi). Vinegar.




Preparation of beetroot borscht
Put the washed chicken body in cold water and simmer it until boiling. We collect the so-called scum (truncated protein). Add peeled and washed vegetables, then peeled and diced red beets. Spices: marjoram, salt, pepper, allspice, maggi bay leaf and cook over very low heat until the vegetables are tender.



When the vegetables are soft, add the finely chopped garlic and a little vinegar. We cook for 2-3 minutes more. Borscht ready.

The way of serving
Serve in mugs to wash down with other dishes, e.g. dumplings, croquettes, empanadas. It can also be consumed alone as a drink.
