Words

By Aerials | Arrow Whispers Poetry Blog | 16 Mar 2020

Words, quietly pronounced, today they mean so much
Words like again, no more, alone, trespassing...
Words living in my chest, invisible, untouched
Today they mean a lot, tomorrow they are nothing.

Morphine for pain, absinthe for doubting minds
Come closer, friend, and whisper in my ear
Here, in the dark, our lies can live and hide
In words heart-beating, love, immortal, fear...

They flow around - remainders of the past
Disturbing dreams that never came to life
And in their warmth I carelessly trust
Words beauty, resurrection, brother, strife...

They are like men that come and go in time
Intrude and fade like sunsets, melt with sorrow
Yes, words... There is just life, there is no crime
In saying things that disappear by morrow.
