There are many different types of Airdrop, at least speaking from the user's experience. Some Airdrops are fast like thunder flashes and some airdrops came when you were not even expecting them.
Other Airdrops, instead, take a very long time and a lot of patience: you have to find a hidden gem, a very early project, and follow all the steps and all the development before you can get something in return. That's also why Airdrop hunting can be exhausting: sometimes it takes a year of activity, keeping yourself up to date, just to find yourself empty-handed.
Over Protocol - The Journey
Hopefully, this will not be the case with Over Protocol. Over Protocol is a Layer solution that aims to eliminate technical complexity from blockchain, making it easy for everyone to run a node and letting anyone to access the protocol. No need to say that they also focus on scalability, low fees, and user-friendly tools. I was introduced to this project by an article here on Publish0x, because the rumors were confirming an upcoming Airdrop. I started doing tasks on Over more than one year ago when the app was so early that all you could do was just checking in everyday. I stored a fair amount of points, reaching the minimum to access the open beta testnet that was launched a few months ago (March 13th). The Over app turned into a proper wallet, based on testnet, with a few functionalities: you could claim tokens, send them and stake them as an investment for a return.
In the last months it was also possible to run a node of the network on PC. I tried to run a node to participate in the project and get a high return on staked tokens ( test tokens) but my internet connection was not stable enough. My node kept crashing and I had to switch back to staking on mobile wallet.
Finally Airdrop
A few days ago it was announced that finally the mainnet will be launched (probably in June), while the testnet will officially close on May 31st.
So, the highly rumored Airdrop is finally coming, and hopefully active members will be rewarded. To be eligible for the Airdrop users must also open an account on Flipster, a freshly new mobile app to trade and invest on different asset, mainly cryptocurrencies. ( KYC with ID verification is required, I'm telling you in advance in case you are one of those allergic to KYC)
There are three kind of members that will receive an airdrop:
- Members who have OverWallet points and pass the Sybil Detection.
- Members who participated in the testnet using OverNode and meet the criteria.
- Members who are holding Nethers NFT.

The Sybil Detection is a sort of KYC to prevent fake friend referrals and bot spamming, and must be completed before May 31st. I did and now I'm waiting for my Airdrop.
I really hope that all of this effort will lead to something because I like the project and I will love to continue supporting it.
