Hey guys, did you notice Bitcoin is going mainstream between sport people?
Quite few athletes who are also businessman already showed interest in having part of their money in form of Bitcoin. I remember a few years ago Spencer Dinwiddie tried to tokenize his contract.
NBA stopped this guy (who just tore his ligament and his season is over, good luck with you recover Spencer!) preventing Nba athletes to transform their contracts into assets, with the threat of being banned.
This didn't seems to stop other athletes from thinking about turning part of their dollars into Bitcoin
Carolina Panthers tackle Russell Okung tweeted last year that he wanted to be paid in Bitcoin.
Apparently his requests were heard, and he will receive half of his $13 million salary in the form of cryptocurrency. This thanks to a Zap, a payment startup that converts traditional paychecks into bitcoin
This makes him the first player from any of the big four US sports leagues (Basketball, Football, Hockey and Baseball) to be paid in Bitcoin. Okung has now to wait for NFL approval, which is not granted.
