Is Mt.Gox coming back?

By Arkemmus | Arkemmus' Blog | 4 Nov 2020

Mt Gox is undoubtedly one of the most controversial topics in the cryptocurrency industry. All in all, it is not surprising - as a result of the attack on this exchange, thousands of people lost all their savings, and the stolen Bitcoins are worth millions today. The rumors about its alleged reactivation are even more puzzling.

Nobuaki Kobayashi - Mt Gox trustee

Mr. Kobayashi is a Japanese lawyer who currently serves as a representative of a bankrupt exchange. In a document that was published by him on October 15th, we can read a mention of the creation of a special "rehabilitation plan".

"The Trustee is currently in the process of formulating a rehabilitation plan, but due to certain issues with this plan, it is necessary to extend the period during which such a plan can be submitted."

It is hard to say at this point whether it is just a further delay in the entire process and compensation payments, or whether there are actually any plans to reactivate the stock exchange. Unfortunately, most people have so far not been compensated in any way for their losses. And there is a lot to compensate because about 850,000 BTC were stolen as a result of the infamous fraud. They would now be worth about $ 10 billion.
