Dogecoin has been making some sizeable waves recently.
Dogecoin emerged in 2013 as a joke. It was created by Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus to satirize the growth of altcoins by making the doge internet meme into a cryptocurrency. While it was birthed as a joke, it actually led to some practicality as it’s large supply and low price facilitated efficient micro-tipping content on social media. It is a derivative of Luckycoin which forked from Litecoin and uses a Scrypt algorithm. Dogecoin has 1 minute block intervals making it faster than other blockchains. There is no cap to the supply of coins and thus the coin can inflate infinitely.
Dogecoin is a peer-to-peer, decentralized, and digital currency that allows you to send money online easily. Dogecoin right from its launch has become very much significant in the crypto world. The Doge cryptocurrency is even used by retailers to accept payments or within the community for tips and such. The logo is a dog, which is their friendly mascot.
Elon musk & the reddit community
The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, who doubles as the CEO of SpaceX has posted what looks like an endorsement tweet regarding the digital currency, Dogecoin (DOGE), calling it the standard that will overwhelm the global financial system.

The value of Dogecoin surged Thursday as Reddit traders targeted it in an attempt to mirror the mindblowing share rises in heavily shorted companies like GameStop, BlockBuster, and AMC.

We saw an increase in excess of 1000% and catapulted into the top ten (coinmarketcap) from 0.007 to a peak of 0.08 that's incredible!
- as far as I'm aware the only other coin to make such mammoth gains is bitcoin with ETH in tow also reaching ATH'S, some even go as far to claim that doge will overtake bitcoin. I highly doubt it lets get it to a $ first but it's certainly an exciting time to be Hodl'ing some.
The price has since took a massive correction but it just shows the potential for any coin to do well if the community backs it.
The fact that many exchanges have suspended trades or Doge is under "maintenance" shows the meme currency has got them running scared.
Anything can happen in crypto.
The Doge community is one of the most vibrant and welcoming there is so wether it ever goes "to the moon" or not it still holds value to the user's.
