Spoiler alert, if you have not seen the series I warn you that by reading this post you will know a large part of the information before seeing it, but from a general point of view since I do not intend to tell you all about the series but to make an analysis of it, having said this, I tell you that a few days ago I saw at once the six chapters of this series that premiered on Netflix on February 19, 2021, the argument of it (according to the Netflix synopsis and what is presented in the episodes) consists in that in the future, specifically in the year 2029 after a world-scale war conflict, a global blackout arises that almost completely wiped out technology, leading the continent to decades of chaos and anarchy, causing nations to disappear and instead a great number of microstates appeared with their own beliefs and cultural identities, with war being something constant, with the most powerful tribes seeking to gain control of the continent.
The series is set in the year 2074 and it is said that there are many tribes distributed throughout the continent but the main protagonists of this first season are four, The Originis tribe of the main protagonists, who live in the forest in a primitive way respecting the nature and in harmony with its environment and also staying out of conflict. The Ravens, who are a tribe of ruthless warriors and one of the largest and most powerful. The Crimson which is another warrior tribe but more focused on the military and made up of people from various tribes who have come together to fight for a new Europe. And finally the Atlanteans, who are a technologically advanced tribe, of which very little is known during the development of this first season.
As I already told you, what I intend to do is a general analysis of the series, and for this I am going to begin by developing the different narrative arcs that are presented in it without delving into the specifics of the events. After an Atlantean airship was shot down by the Ravens, an Origin boy named Elja finds a cube that belonged to the pilot of the Atlantean airship and there is the starting point for the events to come since all the other tribes want the cube because it is the key to the technology of the Atlanteans and this is one of the main arcs of the serie.
On the other hand we have Kiano who was captured along with his father and taken to the main city of the Ravens to be enslaved (in different ways) and finally we have Liv who joins the Crimson in order to go to rescue her family that was captured and enslaved by the Ravens, these three brothers develop their own story throughout the series, which I think is very well accomplished and leaves you wanting more at the end of the season, it is important note that it is from the same producers of the hit Netflix serie Dark.
Regarding the script, it seems to me that it is very good since it keeps the viewer integrated in the story and you do not have those typical parts that are there just to fill the gap, the different events follow the course of the story in development, taking us from one point to another. following the plot, however, it seems to me that the development of Elja's story is the least interesting in terms of development, because somethings that happen are really clichés, such as that the cube works only when it is convenient and how it is convenient but at other times it breaks down or doesn't work very conveniently to develop the story, that's the only thing that didn't quite convince me in the serie.
Regarding the performances, I think that they are all very good in general and with a very good casting, regarding the main characters I think that they are very well achieved and with very good performances and the backgrounds of each one are also attractive and they manage to generate interest in the development of their own stories. Everything that I present here comes from my humble opinion and analysis, I do not pretend to make a value judgment since everyone has their own tastes and opinions, I invite you to watch the serie and then be able to know if you like it or not, for my part I recommend it to you and if you have read this far you already know that you can watch the serie quietly because I only speak in a general way in this analysis and you will be able to enjoy the development of the story by watching it.
