Some short facts about budgies

By Sasha Poet | ABOUT EVERYTHING | 28 May 2021

- Some people call them budgies, and some call them parakeets. Their full name is budgerigars. All budgies are quite very tiny birds. Average length of budgies is between 7 and 8 inches. (17.78 cm – 20.32 cm). Budgies in the native habitat are even smaller. We know two different types of these birds. The traditional budgie from Australia and the English budgie.

- English budgies are usually longer for 1 or 2 inches than Australian budgies. Budgies can talk even better than the larger parrots, but their voices are small and gravelly-sounding. Natural color for all budgies is yellow/green. But you will see a lot of different varieties colored budgies, which are color mutations in the bred for the pet trading. All these color mutations for budgies you won’t see in the natural habitat.

- Your budgie needs a lot of fresh fruits (Apples, bananas, mango...) and fresh vegetables (Cooked beans, broccoli, carrots, greens...) and pellet diet in its diet, not just only seeds diet. Only seeds diet can cause a health problem to these birds. ---> Source

- I personally have two females. They are really very nice birds. Occasionally I also drop them relaxing music that is made just for these birds. ---> Relaxing Music

- You can also check out these two amazing Youtube channels where you can learn a lot about these birds. ---> Alen AxP and ElleAndTheBirds
