As you may be aware my love for Helium has been on a downward scale, almost as steep a drop as the price scale but I was hoping that the move to Solana may make me like Helium a bit more.
I spent last night researching the new IOT token and how to claim my miners rewards as well as my staking rewards. I was busy at work when you were first able to stake HNT after the migration, but as it was an easy process I quickly staked just 25 HNT ( I had 63 HNT on my phone but I thought I would test the water as I could always add to it).
As I staked during the 'Landrush period' I get a 3X multiplier for voting power, I staked for 6 months decaying which should mean at the end of that period I will get my 25 HNT back plus a little extra IOT daily as a reward. The ve HNT is voting escrow and I am not even sure if I will use my voting rights as it was pointless before. My first staking rewards should have been available 48 hours after staking.
Then as our schedule was so hectic I had no choice but to just leave it and wait until we got home and had time to go through everything. I did miss out on an IOT pump but it is not the end of the world.
This is based on 1 HNT staked and as I staked 25 HNT I should get 312.5 veHNT (or voting power)
I tried to claim my miners rewards as I had 70K IOT tokens, it looks simple enough as I already had some SOL to pay for the transaction just click on the claim all button, BUT it's Helium so the claim button did not work, I cleared the cache on my phone, deleted some junk and restarted the phone to try again, still nothing.......... Now a Redditor described the app as 'dog poop' (not quite his words!) and I tend to agree with him, it is still laggy and sooooo slow. The app is also quite fussy and not the easiest to navigate but I could put up with that if it worked. I thought that it may just be busy so tried again later that evening and still nothing. I have also tried again today and still nothing, I press claim and wait for the app to say I have claimed my rewards which don't show up and no SOL ahs been taken for the transaction.
Then I thought I would try and claim my staking rewards, it looks as though I have over $6 there so I connected the wallet again as instructed and hit the claim rewards button, and you guessed it, it did not work. After looking again on Reddit it seems that claiming rewards is a common problem so I will have to work something out.
Below is the Helium documentation on the staking subDAO rewards. ( I joined the IOT subDAO).
SubDAO rewards are calculated and paid to the lock-up position each 24hr reward period, at approximately 00:30 UTC. Currently, the IOT and MOBILE subDAO each have a 6% token emission pool for veHNT stakers. This 6% is shared proportionately amongst all veHNT delegated to that subDAO at the end of each epoch.
subDAO rewards may increase when:
- More veHNT is delegated in the subDAO you delegated to - your treasury gets more HNT.
- More Hotspot onboarding fees are burned in the subDAO you delegated to.
- More network data is transferred within the subDAO you delegated to.
subDAO rewards may decrease when:
- More veHNT is delegated in the subDAO you delegated to - your share is reduced
- More veHNT is delegated to other subDAOs - other treasuries get more HNT.
- Your delegated veHNT decays over time after you enter cooldown (cliff mode)
- More Hotspots are online in other subDAOs that have a non-zero onboarding fee.
- More network data is transferred within other subDAOs.
As for the scam NFT's people have been getting in their wallet, so far I have had none but as NFT's don't float my boat I will probably just ignore that bit as much as possible.
Also when I said I would look at getting Discord, I have changed my mind lol I really don't want to go through over 100 Helium related channels to find out what I want to know.
Well that is all for now as I need to try and find out how to claim my rewards which are currently around $38 over 25 days and for 7 hotspots (1 is still on the deny list!)
