Good morning
Well voting is now over for Helium to move to the Solana blockchain.
It passed with over 81% of the votes, not that this would ever be in doubt, I learned a long time ago that unless you have thousands of HNT your vote does not count. (No I dont have that much!).
Helium expects the transition to happen as early as Q4, they are already working on the offchain oracles (these will keep the data and packet transfers moving even if the blockchain stops). Our wallets are compatable with Solana so that shouldn't be a problem, infact Helium also believes the minting and distribution of tokens should be easier.
Currently whenever HIP's or improvements are made it effects the Helium blockchain badly and they themselves described it as a 'game of Jenga'. I personally was not against the move to Solana and saw it as a good thing and when the price of HNT dropped hugely after the announcement I was quite suprised only to later find out it was not the announcement of moving to Solana that caused this, but the Binance error where the people selling Mobile tokens were getting them for the price of HNT instead of the Mobile token price. Again we will have to wait and see what happens there.
The other big news is that Helium/Nova Labs and T mobile will partner up. It looks as though T mobile will cover Heliums 5G coverage dead spots. This is just for the 5G and only currently in the USA. There could be $5 per month phone plan and subscribers will also be able to mine Mobile tokens on their phone. There have not been a lot of details released yet, it was the big announcement from the latest Helium House event, so we will have to wait and see on how this progresses but it does all seem to tie in with the Solana Saga phone, which i also see as positive for the Helium network.
As always, thank you for reading and feel free to comment.
