Nice observations, she is in fact a bee and one way to tell for sure is all the pollen she has collected on her legs! The bigger and rounder bees (like bumble bees) that you are thinking of are from family Apidae, while that is a picture of Halictus rubincundus, a type of sweat bee. Don't worry, I will definitely be going into more of the specifics down the road!
