Don't worry, just play this game and you'll get rich!????

I do play games to relax my brain sometimes, (and maybe it has something to do with having ADHD as well, what do I know?). Some of my favourite games rely on advertising for financing. That is not a problem for me, actually, since I think it is OK fo...

Writing for fun or for money?

4 Challenges Facing Cryptocurrency Adoption

11 Apr 2020 Awah

12 April 2020
I do like this post. There is two additions I want do: 1) One additional challenge is to separate the cryptocurrencies from the fiat market. As long as the crypto is valued in US$, e.g., it will still be very vulnerable to market changes. 2) One usability problem we have address with all digital money is the fact that not all people can handle abstract figures, i.e. numbers on paper or a screen. This has not necessarily to do with intelligence, but there are conditions gathered under the term 'dyscalculia" which is to maths what dyslexia is to reading and writing. Digital money is very difficult to use for people with this problems. We seldom consider this group, but my prediction is that they will be very vulnerable and up in personal bankruptcy far more often than other people.

How much can you realistically make on Publish0x?

11 Apr 2020 ScreenTag

12 April 2020
Well, I post on both uptrennd and here, and sure, it is clear that people write more (and sometimes with less quality). The problem is to keep the quality up, I think. Since people can tip an article with just a few lines (easy to read) and get a percentage of the tip back even if the article is not very special (to be mild in language) there is nothing stopping greedy readers from tipping greedy mass-authors. It might not be a problem in itself, but it does undermine some of the idea on publish0x, I think. Clearly, there is no such thing as a free lunch, but if you like to write about important things, why not do it, where it gives the money for the coffee breaks now and then.

Bitcoin shouldn't be compared to the fiat currencies anymore!

11 Apr 2020 Teodor

11 April 2020
I wrote in a comment to another post that we need to remove all connections to fiat money, and suggested that one possibility would something like the "BigMac" index. The idea would be that we base the crypto on something that can be valued by any person, such as basic lunch cost, or something else that relates to the "maximum acceptable price", for something essential... I still don't know what that reference item should be... but we need to relate to something stable.

I just noticed that the icon for selecting which open tab to go to, and table you open new tabs moved to the top of the screen rather than being at the bottom. I assume that that is at least one, but maybe the only, visual difference you can notice. Actually, now it looks almost completely like the Google browser, apart from the lion icon and the triangle.

Ampleforth Wants to Take the Volatility Out of Crypto. This Is How They Will Do It.

09 April 2020
The problem in my opinion is the reference point, the US dollar. This makes the currency again dependent on something that does not have any value in itself. Maybe the value needs to be connected to something that is not dependent on fluctuating conditions. One relatively stable reference could be the minimum price for a lunch (which everyone needs in order to survive, and therefore cannot fluctuate too much in price) or something with a similar type of reference. So, with a FoodCoin you could always be sure that you can buy today's lunch. It might be valued differently in fiat currencies in different countries, of course, but the reference value would be stable.

Top 10 programming languages

2 Mar 2020 RedHairShanks

01 April 2020
In my personal experience, you should learn one object-oriented language , one functional, and possibly a procedural, possibly, maybe even pure C. With professional skills in these languages in your language toolbox, you can learn most other languages quickly. The interesting thing is not the language, but the paradigm it follows... The important thing to learn is good programming and not the language (which most likely will change quite a lot over time anyway).
